Walt Parker Outstanding K-Family Relations
WALT PARKER
Walt joined Kiwanis during college, but did not return to the organization until 2001 when he joined the Kiwanis Club of Galveston, Morning. Walt found his true calling in working with the Key Club of Ball High and Circle K Club of Texas A&M University at Galveston. As an advisor to these sponsored programs, he guided each to many successful years of community service. For his efforts, Walt was the recipient of many Kiwanis awards including the George F. Hixson Fellowship in 2006 and Kiwanian of the Year in 2009. He was inducted into T-O CKI's Fred & Dottie Seals Circle of Service in 2005. Walt was all you could ask for in a Kiwanis Advisor. He attended all meetings and events - he was there for all the students not just as a Kiwanis Advisor but as a true friend and mentor. Even after his cancer diagnosis in 2006, Walt remained an active advisor to both the Ball High Key Club and the TAMUG CKI clubs. Walt was a true friend and advocate for CKI, not just in Galveston, but throughout the district. Walt passed away on January 14, 2011 after his long battle with cancer. In recognition of his dedication to Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs, the 2010-2011 T-O CKI District Board voted to name the Outstanding Kiwanis Family Relations award for Walt.
This award is presented to a CKI club that has shown excellence in their Kiwanis Family Relations by maintaining a strong relationship with their local Kiwanis Clubs, Aktion Clubs, Key Clubs, Builders Clubs, and K-Kids Clubs.
