Stan Soderstrom Distinguished Club and  Outstanding Club Achievement

STAN SODERSTROM

Stan Soderstrom joined the Kiwanis-family in 1974.  A former Texas-Oklahoma Key Club District Secretary, he went on to serve as the Texas-Oklahoma Circle K District as Governor, Secretary-Treasurer, and the first Editor of the T-O Today.  He would later serve as both a Circle K and Key Club District Administrator. Stan joined the Kiwanis International staff in 1997, and before being named Executive Director, he held the position of Chief Impact Officer where he focused on the successful growth and development of the Kiwanis’ youth and adult leadership development programs around the world, as well as strategic planning and board governance for Kiwanis International, Key Club International and Circle K International. Stan also led the introduction and development of new membership-based service clubs for elementary school children (K-Kids) and adults with disabilities (Aktion Club). During that time, Kiwanis enjoyed a 75% increase in total paid membership of its youth and young adult clubs’ membership. He completed undergraduate studies at Texas Tech University and graduate coursework at The University of Texas at Austin.

In January of 2024, Stan retired from his role as Executive Director after working for Kiwanis International for 27 years.

This award was created to recognize those clubs in the Texas-Oklahoma District that have gone above and beyond to serve their communities, instill a sense of leadership in the club’s membership, and recognize the importance of fellowship. Those clubs who meet the criteria to be declared distinguished will then move on to be ranked for top overall club. The club with the highest ranking will be declared the recipient of the Stan Soderstrom Outstanding Club Achievement Award.
